I am a writer of essays, short fiction, and exactly one poem.

Regardless of genre, my writing tends to explore questions of memory, grief, and place. About Place, Crack the Spine, Pop Matters, Hawaii Review, and others have been gracious enough to publish my work. My nonfiction has been awarded the Green Briar Review and Flint Hills Review prizes. I earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College.

Currently, I am an Associate Teaching Professor in the Writing Program at the University of California Santa Barbara with a dual appointment in the College of Creative Studies. My pedagogy focuses on collaboration and care.
